Here are the words to the song "Sweet Emily". This song was written by Rodney Wheaton of Blessing, Texas in loving memory of Emily Jeanette Garcia who was abducted, raped, and murdered in Canyon Lake, Texas on February 25, 1993. Emily's murder has still not been solved. The music was added to the song by Ray and Peggy Sexton of Palacios, Texas and on the cassette they sing the song for Emily and her family.

Sweet Emily

Sweet Emily, Sweet Emily,
I miss you, My Sweet Emily.

It has been ten long years since that day,
As you got on the bus and rode away.
You never came home, I didn't know why,
I missed you , My Sweet Emily.

Well, as time went on, about a year,
And after that time, when I finally did hear.
Your bus ride had taken you to Heaven,
There's no doubt about it, I know that you are there.

Sweet Emily, Sweet Emily,
I miss you, My Sweet Emily.

You were only 15 when he took you away,
While all I could do was sit there and pray.
This killer he kept you for just13 days,
But for all eternity, I know he will pay.

We know that you are still with us, we can tell,
And the signs that you give us, are all too clear.
So, Emily, My Baby Girl ,
The time for his capture is fast growing near.

Sweet Emily, Sweet Emily,
I miss you, My Sweet Emily.
